Three months later M came under pressure from Gareth Mallory, chairman of the British Parliament's Committee on Intelligence and Security, to retire. The MI6 server was hacked and M received a short message about the computer before MI6 headquarters exploded. Bond, who used a suspected death to retire, learned of the attack and returned to London. Although he failed in a series of physical and psychological examinations, M agreed to his return to the field. Bonds are ordered to identify Patrice's employer, recover a stolen hard drive, and kill Patrice. He met the new quartermaster of Q, MI6, who gave him radio beacons and Walther KDP pistols.

In Shanghai, Bond follows Patrice to a skyscraper but can not prevent him from killing the target. The second fight, but Patrice falls to his death before Bond can learn the identity of his master. Bond found a casino token in the case of a Patrice rifle, which took him to a casino in Macau. Bond was approached by SÃÆ'  © vÃÆ'  © rine, Patrice's accomplice, and he asked to see his master. He warns him that he will be killed by his bodyguards, but promises to help Bond if he will kill his master. Bond foiled the attack and joined the Sà © â € <â € <à © vÃÆ'Ã… © rine on his yacht, where they had sex. They traveled to an abandoned island off the coast of Macau where they were held captive by the crew and sent to the employer Sà © rà © rine, Raoul Silva. Silva, who was once an MI6 agent, has now turned into cyberterrorism and set the attack on MI6. Silva kills SÃÆ'  © vÃÆ'  © rine, but Bond captures Silva for rendition to England.

At MI6's new underground base, Q tries to decrypt Silva's laptop. Q inadvertently gives laptop access to the MI6 server, which allows Silva to escape. Bond concludes that Silva wants to be captured as part of a plan to kill M, whom he hates for denying him. Bond pursued through the London Underground but lost Silva after a train wreck. Silva attacked M during a public investigation of his stolen hard drive handling but Bond arrived in time to repel the attack. M saved from bullet by Mallory and ended up in a car with Bond.

Bond and M travel to Skyfall, the Bond family estate in the Scottish Highlands. Bond instructed Q and Bill Tanner to leave an electronic trail for Silva to follow. Bond and M meet the Skyfall goalkeeper, Kincade, and together the trio prepare a series of pitfalls throughout the house. When Silva's army arrived, Bond, M, and Kincade managed to kill most of them. M hurt, but hide it from Bond and Kincade. Silva himself arrives by helicopter with more people and heavy weapons, so Bond sends M and Kincade through the priest's hole to the chapel on the grounds. When the house was destroyed, Bonds escaped to the same tunnel and headed to the chapel.

Silva survived the destruction of the house and followed the Kincade and M to the chapel. He forced his gun into M's hand and pressed his temple into hers, begging him to kill them both. Bond arrives and kills Silva by throwing a knife into his back, but M gives in to his wounds and dies in Bond's arms. After M's funeral, Moneypenny officially introduces himself to Bond and tells him that he retired from fieldwork to become secretary for the newly appointed M. Production

Development

Production Skyfall was suspended during 2010 due to MGM financial problems. Preproduction resumed after MGM stepped out of bankruptcy on December 21, 2010; in January 2011, the film was officially dated November 9, 2012 release by MGM and the Broccoli family, with production scheduled to begin at the end of 2011. Furthermore, MGM and Sony Pictures announced that the UK release date will be brought to October 26, 2012, two weeks before the US release date, which is scheduled for November 9, 2012. The film budget is estimated to be between US $ 150 million and $ 200 million, compared to $ 200 million spent on Quantum. from Solace . Skyfall is part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Dr. No and Bond movie series. According to producer Michael G. Wilson, a documentary crew is scheduled to follow film production to celebrate birthdays.

Pre-production

After releasing Quantum of Solace in 2008, producer Barbara Broccoli commented that Skyfall , without a title at the time, was able to continue the Quantum organization plot, introduced at Casino Royale and resumed in Quantum of Solace .

In August 2011 the Serbian newspaper Blic declared that Bond 23 would be entitled Carte Blanche and would be an adaptation of a recent continuation novel by Jeffery Deaver. On August 30, Eon Productions officially rejected any link between Bond 23 and Carte Blanche , stating that "the new movie will not be called Carte Blanche > and has nothing to do with Jeffery Deaver's book ". As of October 3, 2011 15 domain names including 'jamesbond-skyfall.com' and 'skyfallthefilm.com' are reportedly registered under the name of MGM and Sony Pictures by the MarkMonitor Internet brand protection service. This led to media contention that the film was named "Skyfall". These reports were not confirmed at that time by Eon Productions, Sony or MGM. Skyfall was later confirmed as a title at a press conference on 3 November 2011, in which co-producer Barbara Broccoli said that the title "has some emotional context to be revealed in the movie". The title refers to the name of the childhood home of Bond "Skyfall", and the setting for the end of the movie.

Casting

The main character of Skyfall is officially announced at a press conference held at the Corinthia Hotel in London on November 3, 2011, 50 years into the day after Sean Connery was announced to play James Bond in the film Dr. There is no. Daniel Craig returns as James Bond for the third time, saying he feels lucky to have the opportunity to appear as 007. Director Sam Mendes describes Bond as experiencing "a combination of lassitude, boredom, depression [and] difficulties with what he chooses to do to live". Judi Dench returns as M for his seventh and final appearance in the role. During the film, M's ability to run MI6 is repeatedly questioned, culminating in public inquiry into running its services.

Javier Bardem plays the main movie villain, Raoul Silva, a cyberterrorist who takes revenge against those he considers responsible for betraying him. Bardem described Silva as "more than a villain", while Craig stated that Bond had a "very important relationship" to Silva. In casting roles, director Sam Mendes admits that he lobbied hard for Bardem to receive the passage. Mendes sees the character's potential to be recognized as one of the most remembered characters in the series and wants to make "something [the viewer] might consider missing from Bond movies for a long time". He feels that Bardem is one of the few actors who are tasked "colorless" and exist in the film world as something more than a plot function. In preparing for his role, Bardem has a script translated into his native Spanish to better understand his character, called Mendes as a sign of actor commitment to the film. Bardem colored his hair with blonde hair for the role after brainstorming ideas with Mendes to come up with a different visual appearance for the character, which led some commentators to observe the similarity between WikiLeaks character and founder Julian Assange. BÃÆ' Â © rÃÆ' Â © nice Marlohe plays SÃÆ' Â © verine, a character who has been rescued from the Macau sex trade by Silva and now works as his deputy. Marlohe portrays his character as "glamorous and mysterious", and that he gets inspiration from GoldenEye villain Xenia Onatopp (played by Famke Janssen) in playing SÃÆ' â € <Â © verine.

Ralph Fiennes served as Gareth Mallory, a former lieutenant colonel in the British Army and is now chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee, who gave him the authority to administer MI6. At the end of the film, Mallory became head of MI6, assuming the title of M. During the production, Fiennes stated that she could not say anything specific about the role other than it was "a very interesting piece that was really quite fun." To play the character that returned from Miss Moneypenny, Naomie Harris plays role Harris's role originally presented as Eve, an MI6 field agent who works closely with Bond.Although ongoing media speculation that Harris has been cast as Miss Moneypenny, this is not confirmed by anyone involved in film production, with Harris himself even going so far as to deny the claim that Eve was actually Moneypenny, stated that "Eve is not far from the office-center." According to Harris, Eve "[believes] she's the same Bond, but she's right "The other character who returned to the series was Q, played by Ben Whishaw, and Mendes initially refused to confirm which part Whishaw would play, and then said that the idea of re-introduction was his, saying" I offer ideas about Moneypenny, Q and a flamboyant criminal and they say yes. "To play a part of Kincade, Mendes threw Albert Finney. The producers briefly considered approaching Sean Connery to play a role in the nod to the 50th anniversary of the film series, but chose not to because they felt Connery's presence would be seen as acrobats and release the audience from the film.

Crew

Skyfall was directed by Sam Mendes, who first signed up for the project shortly after Quantum of Solace was released, and remains a consultant during the period of uncertainty around the MGM financial situation. Mendes, who previously worked with Craig on Road to Perdition, was approached after seeing Craig in the production of A Steady Rain . The two met after the show, in which Craig offended the subject directing the Bond film for the first time. Mendes initially hesitated to accept the job because directing the Bond movie did not interest him, but he did not reject the offer immediately because of Craig's involvement and enthusiasm for the project; Mendes describes Craig's foundry and performance at Casino Royale precisely what he feels is needed by the Bond franchise in the main actor. He agreed to take the lead after meeting producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and looking at the initial direction the film will take. Media speculation suggests that Mendes has commissioned a script rewrite for "[removing] action scenes that support 'characteristic performances'" in order to bid for the Academy Award. Mendes denied the report, stating that the action scenes the film planned was an important part of the entire film.

Peter Morgan was originally commissioned to write the manuscript, but left the project when MGM filed for bankruptcy and film production ceased; Despite his departure, Morgan later stated that the final manuscript was based on his original idea, defending what he described as the film's "big hook". Director Mendes firmly denied this, stating that it was "untrue" and that the manuscript manuscript had been discarded as soon as Mendes agreed to direct. The final script was written by the Bond screenwriter, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. Logan recounts that he was brought into the project by his old friend, Sam Mendes, describing the process between Mendes and the authors as "highly collaborative", and that writing Skyfall was one of the best experiences he had in film scripting. British playwright Jez Butterworth also contributed without contribution.

Roger Deakins enlisted as a cinematographer, having previously worked with Mendes on Jarhead and Revolutionary Road . Dennis Gassner returns as a production designer, costume designer is Jany Temime, Alexander Witt is director of the second unit, stunt coordinator Gary Powell and Chris Corbould oversee special effects, while visual effects inspector is Steve Begg. All have worked on Bond films before. Daniel Kleinman returned to design the title of the movie title after stepping aside to allow the MK12 graphic design studio to create a Quantum of Solace sequence.

Location guides

Sam Mendes and Barbara Broccoli traveled to South Africa for a location search in April 2011. With the movie moving into pre-production in August, reports emerged that the shootings would take place in India, with scenes to be taken at the Sarojini Nagar district in New Delhi and on the railway line between Goa and Ahmedabad. The production crew faced complications in obtaining permission to close parts of the Konkan Railway. Similar problems in obtaining a shooting permission were encountered by the production crew for The Dark Knight Rises and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol . The final permit is granted to the production crew of the Bond; However, production ultimately did not sped up in India.

Filming

The subject of photography is scheduled to take up to 133 days, although the actual shoot takes 128. The filming began on November 7, 2011 in and around London, with cinematographer Roger Deakins using Arri Alexa digital cameras to record the entire movie. Scene shot at London Underground station, Smithfield parked car at West Smithfield, National Gallery, Southwark, Whitehall, Parliament Square, Old Royal Naval College Charing Cross station in Greenwich, Cadogan Square, and Tower Hill. St. Bartholomew's Hospital was used as a filming location for the scene where Bond entered MI6 underground headquarters, while Old Vic Tunnels under Waterloo Station in London served as MI6 training ground. For meetings between Q and Bond, production works during the closing hours of the National Gallery at night. The Department of Energy and Climate Change used in the scene when Bond stood on the roof near the end of the film. The Vauxhall and Millbank bridges were closed for traffic due to recording an explosion at MI6 headquarters at Vauxhall Cross. Unlike the Not Enough World , which also features an explosion in the building - which was filmed on a large-scale replica - explosion in Skyfall was digitally added in post-production. Final shooting is planned to take place at Duntrune Castle in Argyll, but was canceled shortly after the filming began. Glencoe was chosen instead to shoot these scenes. Although it should be based in Scotland, the Bond family home in Skyfall was built at Hankley Common in Surrey using plywood and plaster to build a full-scale model of the building.

Production moved to Turkey in March 2012, with filming reported to continue until May 6th. Production is expected to take three months in the country. Adana stands on the outskirts of Istanbul in the film. A group of Turkish teenagers sneaked into a sealed set on a railway line in Adana to film a scene fighting exercise on a train before being caught by security. The scenery of the trains depicted in the trailer shows the Varda Viaduct outside Adana. Bond stunt double Andy Lister dived backwards from the 300-foot drop for the scene. Crane mounted in train carriage to hold the safety rope. Parts of Istanbul - including Spice Bazaar, Yeni Camii, Grand Post Office, Sultanahmet Square and Grand Bazaar - were closed for filming in April. Store owners in affected areas are reportedly allowed to open their stores, but are not allowed to do business, instead of being paid TRY750 ($ 418) per day in compensation. Production faces criticism over allegedly damaging buildings while filming a motorcycle on the roof in the city. Michael G. Wilson denied this claim, pointing out that the film crew had removed the roof before filming began and replaced it with a replica for the duration of filming; when the filming is over, the original roof will be restored. The production team negotiated with 613 part owners of Calis Beach in Fethiye, to film along the shoreline.

Mendes insists that China will be featured in the film, with the filming scheduled to take place in Shanghai and the "other parts" of the country. John Logan explains that production is deliberately looking for a "contradictory" location with London with exotic qualities that make them "a place for Bond to be uncomfortable". Many scenes were not filmed on location in Shanghai. In contrast, the Canary Wharf Active Virgin Pool acts as a Bond hotel pool in Shanghai, and the entrance to the fourth tallest building in London, Broadgate Tower, also lights up to look like an office building there; for aerial recording of Shanghai, the crew received rare access to shoot from a helicopter borrowed from the Chinese government. The inside of the Golden Dragon casino in Macau where Bond met Verine was built on a sound stage at Pinewood Studios, with 300 floating lanterns and two 30 foot dragon heads broadcasting the set. Additional scenes were filmed at Ascot Racecourse, standing at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The first official image of the film was released on February 1, 2012, showing Daniel Craig set in Pinewood, in a skyscraper recreation in Shanghai.

The report set dated April 2012 notes that the scene will be set on Hashima Island, an abandoned island off the coast of Nagasaki, Japan. Actually, the scene is located on an anonymous island off the coast of Macau, although based on the real life of Hashima. Sam Mendes explains that the location is a composite of a set and computer-generated images. Production chose to include the Hashima model after Daniel Craig met Swedish filmmaker Thomas Nordanstad while photographing The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in Stockholm. Nordanstad, who produced the short documentary on Hashima Island in 2002 titled Hashima , reminded Craig to take an extensive note on the island at the time of the meeting but was unaware of his interest in the island until Skyfall > has been released.

The film was later converted into IMAX format for projection in IMAX cinema. Deakins did not realize that the movie would be released on IMAX until after he made the decision to take a movie with Arri Alexa's camera, and was unhappy with the IMAX test made from his recording as a "not looking great" color. After exploring the IMAX system further and discovering that IMAX Corporation is using their proprietary process, Deakins undertakes further testing without process and finds that "images look spectacular on a large IMAX screen", quelling doubts about the format.

Music

Thomas Newman, who previously worked with Sam Mendes as a composer for American Beauty, The Road to Hell, Jarhead and Revolutionary Roads > i>, replacing David Arnold as composer, became the ninth composer in series history. When asked about the circumstances surrounding his departure from the role, David Arnold commented that Newman had been selected by Mendes because of their cooperation, not because of Arnold's commitment to working with director Danny Boyle as composer for the 2012 Olympic Summer Opening Ceremony. The soundtrack album was released on October 29, 2012 in the UK and on November 6, 2012 in the United States.

In October 2012 British singer-songwriter Adele confirmed that he has written and recorded the movie's theme song with regular songwriter Paul Epworth. He then posted the cover for "Skyfall" sheet music on Twitter, credited songwriting for himself and Epworth, with arrangements for both Epworth and the J. A. C. Redford orchestra. The song was released online at 0: 07 am BST on October 5, 2012, the day dubbed "The Day of James Bond" by the producers as it marked 50 years to the day of release. There is no.

The song was nominated and won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. This is the first time a Bond song wins, and the fourth time nominated. "Skyfall" also won a Brit Award for Best British Single at the BRIT Awards 2013.

The film also features Charles Trenet song of 1938 "Boum!" during the scene where Silva showed Bond around the abandoned island, and The Animals' 1964 covered John Lee Hooker's song, "Boom Boom" when Silva attacked Skyfall at the end of the movie.

Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter thinks that Skyfall "dramatically grasps while waving a silly stream of humor," goes on to say that it is a film that has "some weight and complexity therefore ". Variety 's Peter DeBruge suggests that the film's greatest strength lies in its willingness to put much focus on characterization as it does pieces of action, allowing both to complement each other. there rather than competing for the attention of the audience, while Manohla Dargis, reviewing for The New York Times, considers Skyfall to be a "superior followup for Casino Royale "the" luxury rather than the strange and continuous, progressively low-key ". Kim Newman, reviewing the movie for Empire , concludes, " Skyfall is pretty much all you want from 21st century Bond: cool but not camp, â € <â € < respect for tradition but up to now, serious in sensation and relatively complex in character but with a sense of fun that has not always been proven lately ". Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film 4 out of 4 stars, describing it as "a bloody, joyful, and intelligent celebration of a culturally beloved icon". Reviewing for New Statesman Ryan Gilbey sees that "nostalgia pierces the movie", goes on to say that "sometimes the old way is the best".

A number of reviewers praised Daniel Craig at Skyfall . Roger Ebert believes that in "Skyfall" Daniel Craig has the full ownership of his previously unconvincing role "; Philip French commented that "Craig got out of Connery's shadow"; while Daniel Krupa thinks Craig's Bond is "a decisive performance" for "great actors". Edward Porter, writing in The Sunday Times, considers that "Craig has developed an authoritative, dry and intelligent Bond personality". Ryan Gilbey thinks Craig has "relaxed into a Bond without losing any power".

Supporters also receive praise. Roger Ebert reflects that "Skyfall" ultimately delivers a proper role for Judi Dench, one of the best actors of his generation. He is just a movie star, with plenty of time on the screen, a touching dialogue, and a distant character more complex and sympathetic than we expected in this series ". Jenny McCartney, writing in The Sunday Telegraph, agrees, describes Dench as "very shiny" in the movie, and the "most meaningful and often caring camera." McCartney thinks Javier Bardem plays Silva "with an alarming ÃÆ' Â © lan", while Henry K Miller considers his character "the most authentic Bondian Bond villain in decades". The work of cinematographer Roger Deakins also received praise: Newman commented that he "provided the most impressive visuals that this series has ever had since the 1960s," and Miller described the film as "stunning photograph".

The film does not escape criticism, with a review that leads to two and a half hours of running time, and the final third of the film is "protracted", and does not fit the first two-thirds in its momentum as a fundamental weakness in the film.. Xan Brooks of The Guardian, in other positive reviews, criticized the "emotionally indulgent" of "bold decision to unlock Bond - to investigate the character's return story and toast to his relationship with M". Daniel Krupa also chose Naomie Harris as "awkward" and had "almost no chemistry" with Daniel Craig. Similarly Philip French at The Observer gave praise for this film by highlighting "some lazy repetitions" and argues, "badinage is often indifferent and Bond as usual is caught too easily and too easily escaped." Edward Porter, writing in The Sunday Times, considers that while the film aspect is "accomplished with intelligence and panache", he finds that the movie's climax is a bit disappointing, although "the weakness in the final stage is not serious, however, and this movie's short epilogue is amazing ".
