Careers

Seba adopted the stage name of Nujabes (name spelled backwards) and became famous for his approach of generating hip hop beats, often combining the influence of jazz into his song creating mellow sounds, nostalgia and atmosphere. Seba collaborated with Japanese artists such as Uyama Hiroto, Shing02, L-Universe, and Minmi, and with various American underground hip hop actions such as CYNE, Cise Starr (as a separate solo from the hip-hop CYNE collective), Apani B, Lima Deez, Substantially, CL Smooth, Jon Fat, Terry Callier, as well as rapper Funky UK DL. Seba is also a member of the production duo Urbanforest, an experimental collaboration with Nao T. Seba collaborating with Shing02 on critically acclaimed hexalogy Luv (sic) , making parts 1-3 together, but after Seba's death suddenly many doubted that the series could be completed. However, parts 4 and 5 are completed, which was released shortly after Seba's death. Part 6 is not one of the previously completed tracks, but was released on 26 February 2013, on the third anniversary of Seba's death. According to Shing02's official Facebook page, the instrumental for what will eventually become part 6 was found on Seba's phone a few weeks after his death.

Seba is one of the most prolific contributors to the soundtrack of the critically acclaimed anime series Samurai Champloo , which combines the feudal Japanese setting with modern anachronism, especially in terms of hip hop culture like graffiti and rap.
