Development
In October 2014, it was announced that Legendary Television and Synthesis Entertainment are developing a new reboot in Lost in Space and have recruited duo screenwriting Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless to record pilot episodes. In November 2015, Netflix landed the project. On June 29, 2016, Netflix booked a full 10-episode season of Lost in Space , with Zack Estrin as producer and executive showrunner. Sazama, Sharpless, Kevin Burns, Jon Jashni, Neil Marshall, and Marc Helwig also serve as executive producers.
Toby Stephens, talking about the difference between the original series and the new show:
"This is a very smart and modern big story rework.
is Swiss Robinson Family in outer space, so that's the story that went before Space. The fundamental story is that families are lost in difficult, life-threatening situations and how they challenge them and bring them closer. It is basically what this story is, it is just a context.Much more modern. It is a more modern version on version 60. If you look at it now, it's interesting, but it seems so innocent. While this is the appropriate version of our time, I hope it will still have humor and humanity in it, but definitely a must for modern audiences. "
Filming
Production in the first season begins in February 2017, in Vancouver, British Columbia, and ends in July 2017.

David Griffin of IGN gave the first season a rating of 8.5/10 calling it "excellent sci-fi adventure with a bit of a villain problem," giving special praise to the Robinson family, while criticizing Dr. Smith Parker Posey as an unsophisticated and one-dimensional character who has no redeeming qualities. In contrast, Jen Chaney of Vulture characterizes Posey's performance as "a simple and sneaky comedy touch".
