Birdhouse

Reynolds emerged into the skateboard scene in the early 1990s. After a phone call from a professional skateboarder and former Bade Brigade member Tony Hawk, Reynolds joins the Birdhouse. Reynolds stated that Hawk contacted Reynolds with little knowledge of the last skateboard. Reynolds explained in 2008:

For me, it was a trip when they told me, "The ams [amateur] at Birdhouse will be you and Ocean Howell." And I, like, "Me! And that guy, from the H Street video with Doors and everything!" I'm like, "Oh my God!", That's not even true. A kid from a hick town, and the other one is Ocean Howell? That is wrong. That's very wrong. At first, when I met him I was just a fan. But then we became friends. She'll get the girl in every demo almost and I just... amazed! I [think] "Man, how did he do it? He's so cool."

The professional skateboarder and Emerica team manager Heath Kirchart revealed in 2007 that he considered Reynolds as his rival, since Reynolds was recruited to Birdhouse after he joined the team. Kirchart further explains:

I do not tell many people about this. But there's a point [a], I remember when [we] were filming The End when she kicked nipplided UCI ten stairs. I [think], "Shit! Hopefully, I will do it." And I do not. But I came to "Wow! He's better than me." And since that time the road is better than mine. She is not just better than me - she is much better than me.

In 1998, Reynolds was featured in the Fourth Birdcage video The End , with part of the recording from Bro Bowl in Tampa.

Baker

In 2000, Reynolds left Birdhouse and started the Baker brand with Jay Strickland; the company is named after a lifestyle where someone is "baked" (smoking and experiencing the effects of drug marijuana) and skateboards every day. In 2007, Reynolds gave a detailed explanation of the start of the company:

Well, I live in Huntington, riding Birdhouse. We just think for ourselves, all these companies are really lousy. Bird cage does not promote the pile, you know what I mean? Zero does not promote what we are all about. We met with Jay Strickland [and] we started telling about our idea. "We want to do something, we want to do the company." And we're like, "We're all together." It was just a big mess. I go and talk to Tony [Hawk] and Per [Welinder] - "It's good [I] stop and take a group of people and do something, or you help me start a company"

The skateboard deck brand signed a distribution deal with Blitz Distribution, a company that, at the time, distributed Bird Cages and other brands, such as Fury and Hook-Ups (Blitz was originally formed by Per Welinder and Hawk to distribute their own products). In 2008, the brand was the best-selling brand under the umbrella of Blitz Distribution. Reynolds publicly disclosed that all members of Baker's team, including himself, received the same amount of remuneration: "I paid the same as Braydon, Dustin tried to ask for more money once... I have to tell him, like, everyone is paid the same.. no favoritism. "

The company then parted ways with Blitz and, in 2007, Reynolds and fellow professional skateboarders Jim Greco and Erik Ellington established Bakerboys Distribution to distribute the Deathwish brand. The Baker Distribution was then managed by Bakerboys in 2011. In July 2014, Bakerboys distributed seven brands, some of which were owned by past and present Baker riders.

Emerica

Pada November 2014, Reynolds telah merilis sebelas model sepatu khas dengan perusahaan sepatu skateboard Emerica: The Reynolds 1, The Reynolds 2, The Reynolds 3, The Boss, The Reynolds Light, The AR Slim, Reynolds Cruisers, The Reynolds Classics, The Reynolds , The Reynolds low dan Reynolds Low Vulc.

Pakaian Altamont

In 2006, Reynolds collaborated with Sole Technology, owner of the Emerica shoe brand, in a skateboarding business with Altamont Apparel. During the launch event, held at the Altamont Speedway racetrack, Reynolds stated that he was inspired by the spirit of rebellion and freedom that had defined the Rolling Stones concert on the fast track in 1969. For the launch, select groups of retailers, journalists, and members of the skateboard community driven in a limousine to Altamont Speedway, where they listen to Reynolds talking about brands and participating in brand launches.

In collaboration with Reynolds creative direction, the chief designer for this brand is the British artist FOS, who is also the owner of the Heroin skateboard brand. In October 2012, the brand team includes Mike Watt, Brian Hansen, Neen Williams, Kenny Hoyle, Jon Dickson, Justin Figeroa, and Bryan Herman. Former riders include Garrett Hill and Theotis Beasley, with a distinctive Beasley clothing line released in early 2012.

Mulai April 2018, Reynolds disponsori oleh Baker Skateboards, Spitfire Wheels, RVCA, Brigada, Independent, Shake Junt, Emerica, Stance, dan Nixon.

"Madness"

Called "Madness" by Reynolds himself, he experienced "conditions" while skateboarding has been considered a mild form of obsessive compulsive disorder, although the official diagnosis has not been confirmed. In the 2007 episode of "Epicly Later'd" online event, the YouTube channel representative described the example of "Madness" while Reynolds was making tricks in San Francisco, California: "And he will walk up to the top and tap the wall three times. and check [the area where the trick is done] again He'll say, 'Lance, Beagle, Mike'... ready? [Reynolds] 'Lance?'... 'Beagle?'... 'Mike?'

Reynolds explained in an interview:

Like, before I go to bed at night, I go to the door, and I lock it... nine times, but, like, three, three, three; three, three, three; three, three, three; and I did it... three times. And, later, sometimes I lie down, and I, like, "Am I doing it?", And I'm back. And then once I do that, then it should be nine, everything - three, three, three, three, three, three - three times. And, then, if I mess up and do it, then I have to do it three times. You know what I mean?

As part of the DVD release of Emerica Stay Gold video, the bonus section on "Madness" is included. While watching the footage of his pre-trap behavior, Reynolds stated, "I do not know what I'm doing here Ha ha.I do not know. Like, if you would tell me if someone would have told me, 'You roll over, without trying a noseslide, twenty times, or thirty times, I would say, "Noah. You are wrong. "Professional skateboarders and teammate Jerry Hsu explained in the same video:

Well, lately, she's really being healthy and exercising. I live with him now, and it's like we are in the gym; the room was like a gym, where he just kept eating bananas and only healthy stuff. She stretches all the time and just to get the trick, that's what she said. He's like, "I have to do anything to get the trick." Do whatever he can do just the way he imagines it. He's really obsessive about it and it's really rad; I love it.

Effect of Skateboarding

In an interview for the online series "Free Lunch", produced by RIDE Channel, Reynolds stated about Hawk:

... and then Tony alone, like, Tony Hawk. Basically, to me, he says, "You can be a skater and take over everything and use a skateboard to become an entrepreneur, a role model for young people." He's the best. And he called my house when I was fifteen, and [asked] "Do you want to do something with us?", Do not know anything about me. Yes, Tony is the man. Sure, he's the best.

In 2012, Reynolds recruited Hawk Riley Hawk's son for Baker and explained the process in an online interview:

... I [think], "a bit sensitive, you know what I mean, like?" It's kind of weird, huh? Tony's son, he rode Birdhouse. But I see it [and] I imagine it in Baker, you know what I mean? So we just approached Tony [and said] "We want to talk to Riley about the possibility of getting [him] some Baker boards or something like that." And Tony is like, "Man, he's a rippin." He's nineteen years old It really depends on him You guys talk to him. " So we just said, "You want to get some boards?" He's like, "I'm disappointed, man!" And [by the way] I see it, there will be no Baker without Tony and Birdhouse. I know this is an ongoing process, you know? Tony stopped to start Birdhouse. I stopped to start Baker. My people stopped to start a brand new. It's just the thing that's going on.

At Mark Gonzales, Reynolds has stated:

Gonz is the most influential skater of all time, no question. Mark Gonzales created a street skate, handrails, and things no one has ever done. When people do board on the tracks and think it's crazy, he's doing 180 nosegrinds and 180 fakie 50-50. The best and most technical skaters currently doing the heaviest trick beyond what anyone can think of is not doing what Gonz did at the time. It's just not the same.

Reynolds has also been a supporter of professional vocal Flip skateboarder Tom Penny and stated in a 2009 article, titled The Church of Tom Penny :

The switch is upside down. That can not be explained. Everything is the same as Penny's package. It's like a display. Not many people get kickflip, front flip, front flip switch and flip switch all look exactly the same. It's not even really common to do the trick on handrails at the time. He just killed him.

Influence

In December 2011, Reynolds was identified as the most influential skateboard player of all time by Transworld Skateboarding magazine.

The professional skateboarder, his friend, and his teammate Braydon Szafranski have stated, "You really are a fool if you do not think Andrew is the best skater in the world, every day he does tricks I've never seen him do, and I already know him , like, six years. "Professional skateboarder, team mate, artist, and company owner Ed Templeton have stated:" I do not know how he did it I do not know how he jumps into the things he skips, year after year, and, and, still being like... I do not know - to me, it's shocking. He's been number one for a long time, that it's mind-blowing at this point. "Emerica's teammate Jerry Hsu also expressed his admiration for Reynolds :

He just has, like, a really cool obsession with skating... it's like being around a kid... as long as you focus on skating, you can do whatever you want. You can... he's good enough. He does a lot of crazy things on skating. Like, you will not believe it. All of him, all he ate was fruit. I do not know how she slid when she eats fruit and salad... oh, she eats a lot of vegetables. He's crazy.

In April 2013, Artist and Skateboarder Logan Yuzna made "Skate Like Andrew Reynolds", a music video dedicated to the Reynolds influence on Skateboarding featured on Reynolds Skateboard Baker Skateboards website and social media platform.

In July 2013, professional skateboarder Paul Rodriguez put Reynolds in the "top ten" list of his favorite professional skateboarders, explaining: "If you ask me, nobody jumps bigger stairs and slits better than Reynolds. a better style, more grace, or more control... He's another guy with an incredible style, he's everything you can ask in the purest pro skateboarder. "

Personal life

As of October 2012, Reynolds has not been drunk or using drugs for ten years after a period of illicit illegal and illegal drug use in his early twenties. She also quit smoking after her daughter was born.

Responding to the question "What specifically triggers you to get drunk?" In a 2011 interview, Reynolds replied:

Cocaine - just fiddling with hard drugs and can not stop. My drink is out of control; I can not drink a beer without ending up with fainting and using drugs. It will happen repeatedly. Maybe from the age of seventeen to twenty-four, I just do not know how to control the intake of drugs or alcohol. It only happens to certain people. You are either like that or you are not like that, you know? I suck the grass like my life depends on it. Then one day, I woke up and I knew it was a problem. Things are tough - I know I should not mess it up.

He has stated that his inspiration is his family. In an interview in September 2014, Reynolds expressed concern over the effect that the behavior of "Baker, Pissdrunx and the whole crowd" being recorded may have been given to young audiences and fans. Reynolds explains that he "likes trying and fixing it" as much as possible and adds: "I feel like it's a good job for me."

In 2008, Reynolds lived in Hollywood, California with his daughter. However, in 2012, a report stated that Reynolds had experienced a divorce and then sold the Hollywood house, as well as his Cadillac, in the process of simplification. In response to the life changes that Reynolds had experienced in his older age, Regan had stated, "That's how he simplifies everything. If you want what he has, do what he does."

In the 2012 interview, Reynolds revealed the origin of his nickname "The Boss":

It's just a nickname that [professional skateboarder] Jim Greco gets. I think growing up watching mass movies and documentaries, there's always something like a boss. I have a Cadillac, it's just a small item. I have an apartment; Jim is like, "He is the Boss". There he is. And then he just stuck with it after that. I do not take part in it. I'm not around [saying] "I'm boss," you know? I do not care, anything.
