Histori
Pearl was founded by Katsumi Yanagisawa - who started producing music booths in Sumida, Tokyo - on April 2, 1946. In 1950, Yanagisawa shifted his focus to drum making and named his company "Pearl Industry, Ltd."
In 1953, the company name was changed to "Pearl Musical Instrument Company," and manufacturing has expanded to include drum equipment, marching drums, tympani, Latin percussion instruments, cymbals, booths, and accessories.
Yanagisawa's eldest son, Mitsuo, joined Pearl in 1957 and established a division to export Pearl products worldwide. To meet the increasing world demand for drum kits after the advent of rock and roll music, in 1961 Pearl built a factory of 15,000 square feet (1,400 m 2 ) in Chiba, Japan to produce a cheap drum kit that bore brand names over thirty distributors like Maxwin, CB-700, Stewart, Werco, Ideal, Crest, Revelle, Revere, Lyra, Majestic, Whitehall, Silvertone, Apollo, Toreador, Roxy, and Coronet.
In 1966, Pearl introduced his first professional drum kit, "Series of Presidents".
For a time in the early 1970s, Pearl was distributed in the US by Norlin, the parent company of Gibson guitars at the time.
Today, Pearl's Taiwan operations include five factories whose production supplies almost all of the world's markets for Pearl products. The original Chiba factory now serves the Japanese domestic market, producing drum kits, marching drums, timpani, and symphony bells.
Adams Musical Instruments are sold in the US through Pearl dealers, Hughes and Kettner guitars and bass amplifiers distributed through Pearl's main warehouses in Nashville, Tennessee and Sabian cymbals distributed in Japan through Pearl dealers.
Pearl created several drum products, such as a 1970s-made wooden shell with a glass-fiber layer. There is also a composite shell called "Phenolic." In addition, Pearl combines roto-tom and Phenolic shells to create a line of Vari-Pitch drums. Other early innovations include slightly-sized shells, so the drum head will extend to the edge, like a gong drum. The pearls produce a distinctly extruded and seamless acrylic shell that is different from the tabbed-and-seamed Vistalite shell used by Ludwig. Pearl also developed a hinged tom-arm tube, a design that was widely copied by many other drum manufacturers.

Construction
Pearl has been making shellfish for more than 30 companies. In the 1960s, they stopped making shells for other companies, and started producing drums under their own names and using the Pearl logo for the first time.
It offers two completely independent (and identical) channels that are typically triggered from two drums such as a bongo equipped with a transducer. They can be triggered from almost anything including the old synth with the gate output or, indeed, the drum engine trigger output. It is capable of producing electronic drums and percussion sounds and sound effects.
- DRX 1 - Is the next model Pearl brought out, similar to kit Simmons Kit is equipped with five trigger pads consisting of a bass drum trigger and four trap/tom triggers; and electronic brain control module.
Over the years, Pearl has released a limited number of edition kits, usually a special version of the existing line:

Hardware and Pedal
In addition to producing drums, Pearl also produces hardware for drum and percussion instruments as well as pedals. One of Pearl's major improvements is the introduction of Uni-Lock tilter on tom mount and their cymbal booth. Introduced in 1982, Uni-Lock tilter using frictionless, no-teeth tilter allows players to make more precise angle adjustments for toms and cymbals. This is further enhanced by the introduction of the 360-degree spinning Gyro-Lock gyroscope. Most of the Pearl pedals are equipped with a PowerShifter heel plate, which allows the player to adjust the feel of the pedal by sliding the plate forward or back.
Hardware
- Series 700 - Pearl low-end hardware featuring double-braced teeth and toe tilters. This becomes standard on Forum tools. Replaced by Series 830 in 2013.

- Series 1000/2000 Series - Pearl's high-end hardware drum. The Series 1000 hardware is equipped with upgraded Uni-Lock tilters, while the Series 2000 hardware comes with the Pearl Gyro-Lock pencil. For 2013, 1030 and 2030 Series were released, being upgraded versions of 1000 and 2000 series respectively.
