Producing

Milo is produced by evaporating the water content of the thick syrup at reduced pressure. Blurred thick syrup obtained from malt or barley wheat comes from the company that produces this raw product. In 2016, Nestle Philippines said it would start producing Milo using a "protomalt" formulation in 2017. Protomalt consists of carbohydrates derived from barley and cassava.

History

In 1934, the chemist and industrial inventor of Australia Thomas Mayne developed Milo and launched it at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Milo began production at a factory located in Smithtown, near Kempsey on the North Coast of New South Wales. The name comes from the famous ancient athlete Milo of Croton, after its legendary powers.

Consumption

Milo is sometimes sprinkled with ice cream or breakfast cereal. Milo is often a favorite drink for Tim Tam Slam. In Australia, Milo tends to be consumed more by filling a glass with milk and pouring tablespoons of Milo powder over milk.

Milo produced outside Australia adapted to local preparation methods. In Malaysia and Singapore and Brunei and other parts of Asia, Milo with added ice is known as "Milo Ice" (alternatively, "ping" or "peng", which means ice in Cantonese and Hokkien). Iced milo is even available in fast food restaurants like KFC and McDonald's. Milo is also served locally in kopitiams and mamak kiosks in versions like "Milo Dinosaur" (a cup of Milo with a spoonful of milky Milo powder added on it), "Milo Godzilla" (a cup of Milo with ice cream and/or a whipped cream on top and "Neslo" (combined with Nescafà ©  © powder) Milo powder is also commonly used in the manufacture of batik cakes. In Hong Kong, Milo is served in Cha chaan teng.

Milo is also a famous drink at Indian Muslim shop, or known as Mamak kiosk in Malaysia. Sometimes it is also used as an alternative to jam and spread on bread or also as a ingredient in Roti Canai, and is usually called "Milo Bread".

Marketing

In Australia and most other countries, the packaging is green and depicts people who play sports on cans. Higher malt content forms also exist in Australia and are marketed in brown tins that are usually only available in 375g sizes. As of May 2015, this form is no longer produced. An organization called MILO in2CRICKET, which operates in most areas by volunteers, teaches girls and boys skills.

The ad and slogan of Milo is "Go and go and go with Milo". A recent Australian ad combines this slogan describing four generations of women singing with a jump rope "and my mother gave me Milo to go and go and go." The tag "I need Milo Today" is also used. The packaging of Milo cans in Malaysia and Singapore is also green and also has people playing sports on the tin, giving it a loving name "Tak Kiu", which is Hokkien China for football. In Colombia, Milo is very close to football, and the slogans that have been sung by generations are Milo te daà ± a, la meta la pones tÃÆ'º ("Milo gives you energy, you set goals").

Milo is very popular in Malaysia and Singapore, where its brand name is synonymous with chocolate flavor: Milo has 90% market share in Malaysia (not 90% of the often cited world of Milo consumption), and Malaysians are called the world's largest Milo consumer. This is because Milo was once used as a nutritional supplement when it was first introduced in the country, and thus gained a reputation as a 'must' drink for the older and younger generations. Milo produced in Malaysia is made to dissolve in hot water to produce a refined hot chocolate drink, or with ice added to cold drinks. "Milo Vans" is often associated with sports days in these two countries, where elementary school students will line up to collect their Milo drinks using a coupon.

In Peru, during the 1970s military dictatorship, the Milo label featured Peruvian motifs, such as photos and pictures of Peruvian cities, history, plants, fruits, animals, plants, as educational aid. After 1980, when the military abandoned power, sports dominated the label.

NestlÃÆ' © has now introduced the Canadian version of Milo. Dissolve rapidly like Nesquik, probably because of market expectations, but still retain a sense of malt. It's also sweeter than other varieties. This Milo as a brand has been in Eastern Canada since the late 1970s with the influx of people from earlier British colonial territories such as the Caribbean and Hong Kong, and India. It's available in the smallest ethnic grocery store, especially the Caribbean grocery store. Recently it has been selling on a larger chain to increase their share in ethnic markets in Canada, and is now available in places like Superstore, Extra Foods and London Drugs. Some East Asian supermarkets (such as T & amp; T Supermarket in Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary) will carry imported versions of China or Hong Kong, China.

Aside from the International section of certain grocery stores and certain Asian grocery stores, NestlÃÆ' Â © does not market Milo in the United States. In 2017, Colombian-made Milos began to appear on shelves in supermarkets in the United States such as Walmart (Alongside Hispanic sections), and King Soopers (Denver CO).

It can also be found in the UK in some Sainsbury and Tesco supermarkets, which import it from Kenya and South Africa. Asian food specialists, such as Mini Siam Oriental Foods and Hoo Hing also provide it. A similar product called Ovaltine is most popular among consumers in the UK.

In Ireland, this can be found in many Asian or African stores. Usually they will buy Kenya or Milo Milo.

In China, it is usually sold in western supermarkets, but also smaller smaller shops. Usually packed in a flexible 240 gram foil pouch, a single beverage package can also be purchased. Milo itself contains more milk solids than Milo Australia, so no need to add milk before consumption.

In the past, it was available in Portugal and Brazil. NestlÃÆ' Â © Brazil stopped Milo production in Brazil, to focus on the very popular Nescau and Nesquik domestic brands. The Chilean version of Milo is still in production and is identical in flavor and texture with which it was once produced in Brazil.

In May 2013, and after more than 20 years out of the Portuguese market, NestlÃÆ' Â © reintroduced a brand aimed at an upscale market.
