Hong Kong Disneyland (Chinese: ??????? ) is a playground located on reclaimed land at Penny's Bay, Lantau Island. Located within Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and owned and managed by Hong Kong International Theme Parks. It is Hong Kong's largest amusement park, followed by Ocean Park Hong Kong. Hong Kong Disneyland opened for visitors on Monday, 12 September 2005 at 13.00 HKT. Disney seeks to avoid the problem of cultural reactions by incorporating Chinese culture, customs and traditions when designing and building resorts, including compliance with feng shui rules. For example, the bend is placed on a street near the entrance of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort so that good qi energy will not flow into the South China Sea.
The park consists of seven themed areas: Main Street, US, Fantasyland, Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point, and Toy Story Land. The cast member theme park speaks Cantonese, English and Mandarin. The guide map is printed in traditional Chinese and simple as well as English.
The park has a daily capacity of 34,000 visitors - the lowest of all the Disneyland parks. The park attracted 5.2 million visitors in its first year, under its target of 5.6 million. The number of visitors fell by 20% in the second year to 4 million, inciting criticism from local legislators. However, the park's presence jumped 8% in the third year, attracting a total of 4.5 million visitors in 2007. In 2009, the presence of the park again increased by 2% to 4.8 million visitors. Attendance continued to soar and received 5.23 million guests in fiscal year 2009/2010. Since the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland, this amusement park has accommodated more than 25 million guests. According to AECOM and TEA, Hong Kong Disneyland is the 13th most visited theme park in the world by 2013, with 7.4 million visitors.
The majority owned (53%) by the Hong Kong Government but administered by Disney, the park first produced an annual net profit of HK $ 109 million (US $ 13.97 million) for the year ended September 29, 2012. However, it has been operating at an increased loss in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Hong Kong Disneyland currently occupies 27.5 hectares (68 hectares) and holds 7.92 million to 8.92 million visitors annually. The capacity of the park will increase to handle up to 10 million visitors annually during the 15-year expansion period.

History
Penny's Bay is filled to provide land for the construction of Hong Kong Disneyland. The bay was previously undeveloped except for Cheoy Lee Shipyard, which opened in the 1960s.
Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa was instrumental in introducing the Disneyland project to Hong Kong. When the SARS epidemic devastated the city's economy in 2003, it is expected that the new Disneyland will help boost confidence in Hong Kong's tourism industry.
Hong Kong Disneyland has one of the shortest construction periods in any Disneyland theme park. On January 12, 2003, more than 400 guests celebrated the laying of Hong Kong Disneyland's first rock after the completion of land reclamation at Penny's Bay. Viewers include Tung Chee Hwa; Michael D. Eisner, former chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company; Bob Iger, president of The Walt Disney Company; and Jay Rasulo, former president of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. On September 23, 2004, a special "palace topping ceremony" was held in the park to commemorate the placement of the tallest tower in Sleeping Beauty Castle. Hong Kong Disneyland was officially opened to the public on September 12, 2005 by Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang, Chief Executive Officer Michael Eisner, President Bob Iger. Beijing offers significant support by sending Zeng Qinghong as Vice President of the People's Republic of China. To help Hong Kong Disneyland grow, Beijing also deliberately slows down the development of Shanghai Disney Resort, first planned for the early 2000s.

Garden layout
The park is divided into "land" (themed area) and hidden backstage area. Upon entering a land, a guest is completely immersed in a themed environment and can not see or hear any other nature. The idea behind this is to develop a "stage" of the theater with smooth passages from one land to the next. The public area occupies about 27.4 hectares (68 hectares). When the park opened initially, it consisted only of four classical themed areas rather than the five traditional lands:
- Main Street, USA, was designed to resemble the midwestern city of the early 20th century;
- Adventureland, featuring a jungle-themed adventure;
- Fantasyland, animating the characters and place of the Disney movie for children;
- Tomorrowland, an optimistic vision of the future.
On June 30, 2009, Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of Hong Kong, announced that the expansion of Hong Kong Disneyland has been approved by the Executive Board. The park received three new themed land - Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point, and Toy Story Land - all located off the Disneyland Railroad line, just south of the current area.
- Toy Story Land, based on the Disney movie series, à · Pixar Toy Story . Opened 18 November 2011.
- Grizzly Gulch, recall the abandoned mining town in the middle of mountains and forests. Opened July 14, 2012.
- Mystic Point, the heart of an uncharted rain forest where the supernatural event occurred. Opened May 17, 2013.
On May 2, 2017, the Executive Board approved another multi-year expansion of Hong Kong Disneyland, adding two new themed lands - Frozen Land and Marvel area - to the park.
- Frozen Land, popular Disney franchise theme Frozen . Opened in 2021.
- The Marvel area, inviting guests to fight criminals with Marvel super heroes. Opened in 2023.
The entire park is a 'Hidden Mickey', or a representation of Mickey Mouse's head that is finely inserted into the design of the attraction and the environmental decor.
An elevated levee supports the narrow embankment of Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad (built by Severn Lamb) that surrounds the park. 3Ã,,, ( 914Ã, mm )
Lands of Hong Kong Disneyland
The park currently has seven themed areas that provide various rides, shops, restaurants and live entertainment.
Main span id = "Main_Street.2C_U.S.A."> Main Street, U.S.A.
Inspired by Main Street, USA at Disneyland, the building on Main Street is almost identical to that of Anaheim. Like other Disney theme parks, Main Street Hong Kong Disneyland, USA serves as the entrance of the park. The plan initially featured a restaurant under the train station, but was canceled for budget reasons. The decor is a small town of America from 1890-1910.
Although very similar to Anaheim's main street, this theme is strongly influenced by European immigrants. Plaza Inn - which has an exterior design identical to that of Disneyland - mimics a classic Chinese restaurant created by a rich American couple who is crazy about Chinese culture. Another restaurant, Market House Bakery is reminiscent of a bakery founded by a Viennese pastry chef who brought the world's most famous dessert from the imperial court of Austria.
Unlike Main Streets from other parks, Main Street in Hong Kong Disneyland is built mainly of wood, not of stone. No horse-drawn tram, although the tracks for other Main Street can be seen in the concept of art.
Adventureland
Adventureland Hong Kong Disneyland is the largest among all Disney parks. It features a large island area home for Treehouse Tarzan, which is circled by Jungle Cruise (Jungle River Cruise) - like Rivers of America in most of the Frontierland theme areas. Adventureland is also home to the "Festival of the Lion Festival". The new phase of the show "MoanaÃ,: a Homecoming Celebration" debuted on May 25, 2018 in Jungle Junction, a new open space. it's the first part of a multi-year expansion that was inaugurated to the public.
Fantasyland
Fantasyland features Sleeping Beauty Castle as its icon. It also has several attractions based on classic Disney movies like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and Cousella's Carousel. There is also a Fantasy Park where the costumed Disney characters can be filled, and the Forest of the Tale.
Tomorrowland
Tomorrowland in Hong Kong Disneyland has an emphasis on metallic trim, dominated by blue and purple. Since the opening of the park, a unique attraction has been added to Tomorrowland Hong Kong, such as the new Autopia and Stitch Encounter. The first Marvel attraction at the Disney theme park, The Iron Man Experience, opens on January 11, 2017 in an area previously imagined for the attraction of Star Tours.
Toy Story Land
Opened November 18, 2011, Toy Story Land is the first new theme land since the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005. Located on the west side of the park, behind Fantasyland. Toy Story Land is themed using bamboo to act as a giant blade of grass that surrounds the area. This themed land uses characters from the Toy Story movies, such as Woody, Rex, large paper planes, and Luxo Jr..
Toy Story Land has been marketed by the park as "exclusive Asia", as its only partner, Toy Story Playland, is located at Walt Disney Studios Park in Marne-la-Vallà © à © e, France. Since Toy Story Land became popular in this park, it will become more common, because one at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando opened in June 2018, and one at Shanghai Disneyland, early opening. Some are much bigger than Hong Kong.
Grizzly Gulch
Opened on July 14, 2012, this land is equivalent to Hong Kong with Frontierland and Critter Country. Themed land recalls an abandoned mining town called "Grizzly Gulch", in the middle of mountains and forests. Its main structure is the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars, inspired by Grizzly Peak at Disney California Adventure Park. The city will be founded August 8, 1888 - the luckiest day of the luckiest month of the luckiest year - by gold seekers looking for gold.
Mystic Point
Opened on May 17, 2013, Mystic Point is a new themed land in Hong Kong Disneyland. This is also the last area that opened in Hong Kong Disneyland expansion at this time. It was set in 1909 at an adventurous outpost set up in 1896 in an uncharted dense rain forest surrounded by mysterious powers and supernatural events. The site features Mystic Manor, Lord Henry Mystic's home, world explorer and adventurous and mischievous monkey, Albert.
Future: Frozen Land
The land behind Fantasyland will host two Frozen themed films . Opened in 2021, Frozen Land is set in the fictional Arendelle Kingdom. This land will feature three rides, a sleigh style family rollercoaster, Wandering Oaken's Dancing Giring, and a Frozen dark ride similar to Frozen Ever After at EPCOT.
Future: Marvel Land
On November 22, 2016, it was announced that Tomorrowland would partly be transformed into a Marvel themed area, as part of a massive six-year expansion plan. This expansion will see the replacement of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters by an attraction featuring Ant-Man and The Wasp for 2019 and construction, on the former Autopia site, from a major '' E '' Ticket attraction based on the Avengers franchise to be completed by 2023.
Entertainment and celebration

Disney Paint the Night
The Disney Paint the Night parade debuted in September 2014. It is the successor of the Main Street Electric Parade and the first ever LED parade Disney ever made. It features seven original floats containing more than 740,000 individual lights. The Projection Exhibition
Since March 2018 and in lieu of the spectacular windmill "Disney in the Stars" ending due to the transformation of the castle, this night's performance of about 15 minutes is described as a surprise celebration that will transform buildings along Main Street, USA into a colorful and colorful visual canvas who paid homage to Mickey Mouse's main milestone. Future construction
In January 2012, Hong Kong Disneyland is in the process of negotiating with the Hong Kong Government to invest a profit of HK $ 5 billion for new attractions. Further details of the expansion will be announced within 12 months from January 2012. A new shopping complex and hotel will be considered for new expansion plans.
In a Hong Kong financial secretary John Tsang's 2013-14 speech, he announced that a new night time parade: "Disney Paint The Night Parade", as well as a theme area featuring characters from the Marvel Universe, will be built in Hong Kong Disneyland.. On October 8, 2013, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Thomas O. Staggs confirmed the development of the Iron Man Experience.
On February 17, 2014, Hong Kong Disneyland announced 2012-13 financial results as well as plans for a third hotel in the resort. The third hotel will be the largest hotel in the resort, it will feature 750 rooms with adventure and exotic themes and will cost HK $ 4.26 billion. It is scheduled to open in 2017. The third hotel name will be Disney Explorers Lodge.
Hong Kong Disneyland is also built with space for the second park just across the entrance to the current park. Disney has not yet announced that the second park is under development. Land is also available for additional hotels other than two currents and one is under construction, but the common thought is that the second park will be built before the fourth hotel.
On November 22, 2016, the Walt Disney Company and the Hong Kong Government announced plans for Hong Kong Disneyland expansion worth HK $ 10.9 billion annually. The proposed expansion includes Frozen -themed area (announced for 2020), Marvel themed area (opened gradually from 2018 to 2023), Sleeping Beauty Castle and redesigned hub (announced for 2019), an attraction the newly recalled (announced for 2021), a new Moana stage show (announced for 2018), and live entertainment.
On May 24, 2018, Hong Kong Disneyland opened the first part of the project from a multi-year expansion: Moana: a Homecoming Celebration, an atmospheric stage performance performed daily at the newly built Adventureland Forest Junction. The park also provides more information on upcoming projects and revised dates for these projects: the Marvel-themed shooting ramp that replaces Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters will open in 2019 and an expanded new castle will be inaugurated in 2020, on its time for the 15th anniversary of the park. Park officials also confirmed rumors that the future Frozen themed area will feature a dark ride and a family rollercoster, replacing the previously announced Sleighs Dancing riding, and that the ground will open in 2021.
Criticism
Overly dense issues
Just before the opening, the park was criticized for belittling the daily capacity. The problem became clear on the charity preview day on September 4, 2005, when 30,000 locals visited the park. The show turned out to be disappointing, as there were too many guests. Waiting time at the fast food outlets is at least 45 minutes, and the waiting time on the ride goes up to 2 hours.
Although garden shareholders and the Hong Kong Government put pressure on the park to lower capacity, the park insisted on maintaining the limit, only agreeing to reduce capacity issues by extending the opening time of one hour and introducing more discounts during the working day. However, the park states that local visitors tend to stay in the park for more than nine hours per visit, implying that the practices mentioned will do little to solve the problem.
During the Lunar New Year 2006, many visitors arrived in the park in the morning carrying valid tickets, but were refused entry, as the park was full. Some disgruntled visitors, especially tourists, try to force their way into the park by climbing the barrier gate. Disneyland management is forced to revise their ticketing policies and determine a future close to China's public holiday as 'special days' where receipts will only be allowed through certain date tickets. The weekly ticket price is changed to reflect the cheaper price. Meanwhile, weekend prices are raised. Prices are changing in an effort to control the masses so the crowds will be more throughout the week and therefore the line will not be bad on weekends.
Public relations
Disney initially refused to release attendance figures after media reports appeared saying the number of park attendances may be lower than expected. Disney finally declared on November 24, 2005, that Disney had more than 1 million guests during the first two months of its operation.
In response to the negative publicity locally and to increase the number of visitors, Hong Kong Disneyland offers a $ 50 discount for admission tickets to Hong Kong I.D. holders. card in the period before Christmas 2005. Also, from March to June 2006, the park offers Hong Kong I.D. the cardholder the opportunity to buy a two-day admission ticket with a one-day ticket price.
