24 is a science fiction Tamil India science fiction movie 2015 written and directed by Vikram Kumar. Based on the concept of time travel, actor movie star Suriya in a triple role, with actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Nithya Menen and Saranya Ponvannan in the lead role. The film received generally positive reviews.
The development dates back to 2009, where the film was to feature actors Vikram and Ileana D'Cruz in the lead role. However, in February 2010, the project was canceled due to differences of opinion between the director, the producer and the actor, facing the refusal of the fine script. In August 2014, Suriya agreed to produce and act in the film, with major photography beginning in Mumbai in April 2015, continuing in Nasik, Goregaon and Pune. Plot
Dr. Sethuraman (Suriya) is a renowned scientist and clockmaker who lives with his wife Priya (Nithya Menen) and Mani's newborn son in a house with a laboratory in Megamalai. In January 1990, on his birthday he created a watch that was used so that one could travel back and forth on time for a maximum of 24 hours. His twin sisters Athreya (Suriya) try to take hours and kill Priya in the process. Sethuraman escaped with Mani and took the train. Before Athreya arrived, he handed Mani to a passenger named Sathyabama (Saranya Ponvannan) and begged him to save his son. Athreya killed Sethuraman and was badly injured in an attempt to escape. Sathyabama's father (Girish Karnad) defies his decision to save Mani, and he goes with him to Chennai to honor the promise given to Sethuraman.
26 years later, Mani (Suriya) became a watchmaker who considers Sathyabama as his birth mother. The paralyzed Athreya wakes up from a coma and decides to look for a watch; he hopes to return to 1990 and save himself from the accident. In a series of incidents, Mani discovers Dr.'s watch. Sethuraman and explore its power. Using them, he managed to impress Sathya (Samantha Ruth Prabhu), his client from Sathyabama Gopalasamudram's original place. Adjutant near Athyya, Mithran (Ajay) issued an ad offering five crores to the man who found Dr. Sethuraman. Including Mani, many are preparing duplicate hours and handing it over. But Athreya saw Mani's design accurately and killed her, thus getting the watch.
Athreya was surprised to learn that the clock could only help him travel back and forth for just 24 hours an hour and decide to revive Mani. Mithran puts a watch on Mani's right hand and leaves. Mani wakes up the next morning and is shocked when she wears a watch in her left hand. He travels back to the last night and secretly follows Mithran. Athreya predicts this and manages to deceive Mani with the help of Mithran that he Sethuraman who survived from Athreya as paralyzed. Mani learned from Sathyabama that Sethuraman left him on the train and faced Athreya in another compartment.
Mani went with Sathyabama to Gopalasamudram and united her with an estranged family. He also knows that Sathya is Sathyabama's niece, and both fall in love. Sethuraman arrives with Mithran and assures everyone including Mani that he is Sethuraman and that Athreya is dead. Sathya learns about Athreya's later identity and tries to reveal it to Mani. But, Athreya manages to fall down the ladder and Mani, unaware of reality, walks back into the past and saves her. Sathya forgot about Athreya's identity and assumed that he was Sethuraman.
Mani learns from Mithran that her father will soon die and wants to see Priya for the last time by going back in time to the 1990s. Mani modifies the clock and tests it, revealing the truth about Athreya's identity. He tricked Athreya to tell him about the date and time of Priya's death and gave him a fake watch. Mani used the original watch to travel back in time until 1990 and Athreya accompanied it by touching the real watches used.
In January 1990, Sethuraman and Priya found a modified watch at the hands of their baby. At first glad, Sethuraman felt the danger; she feels that Mani is returning to the age of five because they may not live when she can talk. Athreya, now young and healthy, attacked Sethuraman to find his watch. Sethuraman and Priya run away with Mani, and Athreya inadvertently kills Mithran. Priya and Mani hide in a room, as Athreya faces Sethuraman in the park. Sethuraman freeze time and put Athreya before the bullet, thus killing him. He then runs away with Priya and Mani and rides the same train. They met Sathyabama and Sethuraman agreed to teach science to the children at the school built by his father in Gopalasamudram. The movie ends with a young Mani talking with Satya.

Production
Development
In August 2009, director Vikram Kumar announced that he is set to direct the movie titled 24. The film is supported by producer Mohan Natarajan, who will feature Vikram actor in the lead role. Harris Jayaraj was confirmed to print music and P. C. Sreeram to handle film cinematography. At the end of 2009, the filming began at AVM Studios, Chennai. The set resembles a dense forest and the cave is replicated. In an interview with The Times of India in Chennai, the director of Vikram stated: "We have signed Ileana D'Cruz to do 24 This will be a re-launch in Tamil cinema. has given us a bulk date from February 2010 for the second film schedule. "In February 2010, Vikram Kumar officially announced that he had dropped the movie. Vikram clarified that he perfected the script of the film but was rejected by actor Vikram and the film producer. The title 24 is in a legal struggle when actor Anil Kapoor is planning an action against 2D Entertainment's production house because the official look and logo of the movie's title look similar to the American TV series 24, to which Kapoor has bought the re-creation rights of 20th Century Fox International TV. Kapoor holds the rights of 192 episodes for a period of four years that can be extended for another ten years. His lawyers defended the case, stating that Kapoor holds one of the highest licensing agreements for a fictional format.
