TuneIn Inc. is an American audio streaming service delivering live news, radio, sports, music, and podcasts to an audience of over 60 million monthly active users worldwide. The company is based in San Francisco, California. Founded by Bill Moore in 2002 as RadioTime in Dallas, Texas, TuneIn has more than 100,000 broadcast radio stations and four million on-demand programs and podcasts from around the world. TuneIn is available on the web at TuneIn.com, for a suite of mobile apps: iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Samsung, Windows Phone, and on over 200 connected devices, including Sonos, Bose, Amazon Echo, and Google Home connected speakers. TuneIn's website and free mobile apps allow users to listen to streaming audio of over 100,000 radio networks and radio stations worldwide, including AM, FM, HD, LP, digital and internet stations. Additionally, over four million podcasts are available for streaming on TuneIn. TuneIn's directory lists many sports, news, talk, and music broadcasts from around the world.

TuneIn Radio is available as an app on smartphones and tablets, online at tunein.com and on over 200 platforms, including over 55 vehicle models. Other platforms supported include Sonos, Amazon Echo, HEOS by Denon, Samsung TV, Roku, Google TV, Chromecast, Nexus Player, Ouya PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4. and Xbox One

TuneIn's website is available in 22 languages, each with its own version of the website and content tailored for the specific language or region.

In August 2015, TuneIn launched a premium service, which includes audiobooks and sports content from MLB, NFL, NBA, in addition to news content from MSNBC, Al Jazeera, and more.

Broadcasters

TuneIn has deals with numerous broadcasters of sports, news, talk, and music. Some examples include CBS, ESPN Radio, NPR, Public Radio International (PRI), CBC / Radio-Canada, C-SPAN Radio, All India Radio, AIR FM Gold, Emmis Communications, Hearst Radio, Entercom, Radio One, mvyradio, Wu-Tang Radio (Wu World Radio), ABC Radio and Regional Content (Australia), Bonneville International, Sport Your Argument and talkSPORT.

Sports

In August 2015, TuneIn announced deals with MLB and Premier League and the Bundesliga for live play-by-play coverage. In October 2015, NFL announced a deal with TuneIn to broadcast live, play-by-play coverage of all NFL games to its premium subscribers.

On December 22, 2015, the National Hockey League (NHL) announced that TuneIn would gain radio rights to the NHL. TuneIn would create an individual station for every NHL team to simulcast their home market broadcasts on. Additionally, TuneIn would create a replay channel for each team so fans could listen to the games archived. They would also create a 24/7 NHL Channel, and the NHL would embed TuneIn's player onto the NHL.com website. All TuneIn NHL items would be made available to the public for free. The first broadcasts for TuneIn began Jan. 1, 2016.

Technology

Software: TuneIn Radio is available as a free app on iOS, Android, Windows, and Blackberry. There is a paid version, "TuneIn Radio Pro" (USD $9.99), which allows subscribers to record anything played through the TuneIn service. Recordings made by TuneIn Radio Pro are stored on the device and cannot be played on other devices.

Consumer Electronics: TuneIn is available on numerous Smart Radios and Connected Speakers (Sonos, Amazon Echo, Google Home, Bose, HEOS by Denon, iHome), Smart TVs (Panasonic, Samsung TV, Google TV) and TV boxes (Roku, Boxee).

Game Consoles: TuneIn Radio is available on Xbox, PlayStation, and Ouya.

Auto Manufacturers: As of 2016 TuneIn is available on more than 55 vehicle models, including ones by Ford, General Motors, Tesla, BMW and MINI. After-market auto stereo devices made by JVC, Parrot and Clarion also work with TuneIn.

Audiobooks: In August 2015, TuneIn launched deals with book publishers including Penguin Random House and HarperCollins to provide an audiobook library. In December 2017, TuneIn announced that it would remove audiobooks as of January 15, 2018.
