The brand GOLFINO was founded on 1 March 1986 by Christel and Dr Bernd Kirsten and each of them holds 50% of the shares in this owner-managed company. Starting out as specialists for knitwear, today the company is a successful supplier of complete outfits in the field of sportswear. Golfino is Europe´s market leader for golf wear with a high percentage of regular customers who appreciate the high-quality materials and the tasteful style.

In 1986, Dr. Bernd Kirsten and Christel Kirsten founded GOLFINO. When Bernhard Langer won the US Masters in 1985 and became the world's number one player a year later, the Kirstens decided to make the most of the passion for golf in Europe and established GOLFINO - a niche label that initially created knitwear ideal for the golf course but also cut to be fashionable in the city. Eye-catching motifs and adornments were the trademarks of fashion in the 1980s and the Kirstens successfully integrated them into the golf wear sector. GOLFINO rapidly developed into a provider of complete outfits made of high-quality, technological materials. With headquarters near Hamburg in Germany, its own production facilities in Portugal and 35 of its own stores and outlets as well as more than 500 shop-in-shops, GOLFINO is Europe's market leader for golf wear and employs 250 members of staff.

In Germany, its domestic market, Golfino owns Flagship stores in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and on the island of Sylt. In Europe Golfino concentrates its business operations in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and United Kingdom. The stores are located in metropolitan regions like London or Paris and in holiday destinations like Marbella in Andalusia. In 2014 Golfino was able to open its flagship store in the world´s most famous historic golf region in Scotland, to the Old Course St. Andrews.
Since 2014 Golfino is strongly expanding its business activities in Asia and North America: The opening of the first flagship store in Palm Beach, Florida, was very successful as well as the market entry in China. Update: After one year of opening in China, the business has deteriorated significantly. Prices seem too high for the market and the distributor does not have a good sense of merchandising the brand. The brand may leave China due to poor results and losses.
The trademark
The Golfino trademark shows a golfer's finishing position. It is placed on all garments as well as on accessories like gloves, caps or bags and indicates the article as a Golfino brand product.
